There is a meta aspect to the posting of a standard format internet meme in a comment thread of a blog like this one. The blog itself is a newer form of communication that incorportates various aspects of previous forms into something new, the same way, by example that cinema combines photography and drama. In the same way, an internet meme in the standard format is something new, but yet only in format. A t-shirt or a coffee mug with a saying on it does the same thing. So does a single (or more) panel cartoon. This nests one new format of commmunication into another.
Yes! I’ve been getting a kind of inner prompt that directly modifies how I’m going to try to be cromulant regarding a blog topic I’m following. For instance i can contribute a meme, photo, cartoon, word/words, etc. depending on the subject at hand. I feel free to reach out to the Internet for (mostly visuals bc I am a visual person, and an artist), images, music or quotes. These seem to me to reference the meta collective awareness coming to consciousness in one’s blogging community. MHO anything that can aid or enhance a depth of empathic connection that furthers the conversation helps one to find identity and a comfort among kindred spirits. I aim to learn to add a piquant flavor of my own to these solemn proceedings. My contributions may be contorted, random, playful, thoughtful, off topic. You are right! It’s a new season! At age 66 & a new user of internet I am in uncharted territory. What skills I have i picked up mostly by trial & error. One has the task of taking the opportunity one is offered to climb this upward learning curve with compassionate companions of kindred kindness.
